Come one, come all to the annual CDS Book Fair, November 18-22, brought to you by the PA Friends of the Library. We are hopeful the Book Fair will be a source of joy and brightness, and we look forward to celebrating our shared love of reading! There will be books for all ages and reading levels, wish baskets to help our teachers stock their classroom libraries, and events throughout the week for the CDS community to enjoy. A portion of every Book Fair sale directly supports our library programs, including the student Caldecott and Newbery medals and prize books, schoolwide storytellers and visiting authors, and more. It’s going to be TERRIFIC!

The CDS Book Fair opens on Monday, November 18th! All of our students will have the opportunity to shop at the book fair with their class.They will also create their “Wish Lists” which will be kept on file. Keep an eye out for our special bookmarks with scheduled classroom times, open hours, and special events coming home with the book fair flyer! Parents are welcome to shop ANYTIME the Book Fair is open and will have access to the “Wish Lists.” Here is an overview of our TERRIFIC fair!

Friday, November 15 - Teacher Preview (during the school day - snacks provided)
Monday, November 18 - The Book Fair opens at 8:00am! Open Shopping 8:00am-6:00pm. Grand Opening Event at 3:00-6:00 pm (see details below) with book signing by Robert Beatty
Tuesday, November 19 - Open Shopping 8:00am-4:00pm
Wednesday, November 20 - Open Shopping 7:30am-4:00pm. Books and Bagels (for parents), Wish List Wednesday, Early Shopping
Thursday, November 21 - Open Shopping 8:00am-6:30pm. Late shopping until 6:30pm before the Musical!🎵
Friday, November 22- Last day to shop! Open Shopping 8:00am - 12 Noon

You can easily shop online during the fair and all online sales will count towards our overall Book Fair sales. Feel free to share the link with friends and family!

A Grand Event for SOME FAIR!

Monday, November 18, 2024
3:00-6:00pm in the Oreck Library

Join us for a fun evening to celebrate the opening of CDS Book Fair! We will have popcorn and treats with a special book signing visit from Robert Beatty, New York Times bestselling author of the Serafina and Willa of the Woods series (and CDS parent!). Mr. Beatty will be signing copies of his extremely relevant new book, Sylvia Doe and the 100-Year Flood. Willy will also be joining us to help families shop and find the best books!

We love to see the RADIANT faces of volunteers!

We need volunteers to help our students and families shop. If you are interested in helping the Friends of the Library with this TERRIFIC event please take a moment and find a volunteer slot or two. Book Fair FAQs

Is the Book Fair for all ages and is it open to anyone?

Can I shop with my child during their classroom visit?

Of course! Classroom visits are scheduled throughout the week and parents are welcome to shop during their student’s designated time. If you are unable to make it at that time, Wish Lists will be created by each student and will be available to you. Just ask a Book Fair volunteer. Open shopping happens each and every day and you can shop during special events throughout the week.

When are the special bookmarks with the classroom shopping schedule and Scholastic Flyers coming home?

They will come home the week of November 11th. Students will receive (1) a Scholastic Flyer with the preview of the books coming to the fair (2) a special bookmark with their classroom shopping time (3) instructions on how to set up their eWallet. Please let us know if it did not make it home (disappeared into the void of the backpack) and we will make sure to get you one ASAP!

When can I set up an eWallet and what happens to unused eWallet money?

The online Book Fair is now open. You can set up an eWallet for your child with a click of a button by visiting our fair WEBSITE. Funds are immediately available, and if you need to add more during the fair, you can. You can even invite friends and family to contribute to your child’s wallet. Funds placed on your child’s eWallet are non-transferable to other accounts. Unused funds over $3.00 will rollover to a Scholastic Gift Card that your family can use at Scholastic online any time or at a future book fair. Unused funds less than $3.00 will be donated to the library fund.

Are we still doing the “Gift-A-Book” Program?

Can we support my child’s classroom and teacher through the Book Fair?

Absolutely! There are several ways to give to teachers and classrooms through the Book Fair. Scholastic Books gift certificates are available for purchase at the fair. You can shop directly from teachers’ “Wish Baskets” that are filled with books they selected for their classrooms. Helping fulfill teachers’ wish lists is a fun way to help stock classroom libraries and is entirely optional.
