D’Angelo Elliott, a 2019 graduate of Carolina Day School, has signed an NJCAA grant-in-aid to play college basketball at Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) in Greensboro.

Elliott achieved many honors and awards this past season for the Wildcats of Carolina Day, including All-Conference and All-Western. He was also chosen as a member of the West team NCISAA All-Star team game, which was held in Charlotte in March of this year.

Elliott, a 6’5”, 209-lb wing, averaged 20.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg and converted over 40% from 3-point range.

Although Elliott had numerous offers to play college basketball, he decided on GTCC after visiting the campus and speaking with his future teammates. “Guilford Tech is the best fit for me because it puts me in the position to showcase my talents and capture the attention of the surrounding 4-year universities. It’ll also give me the opportunity to start the pursuit of my biomedical engineering career.”

“Not a lot of kids get the opportunity to play at the next level, and I’m just blessed to be able to have that opportunity,” said Elliott. “I’d like to thank Carolina Day for giving me the opportunity to showcase some of my talent against some of the best players in the country. It’s been a wild ride—I’m just glad I could make it to this point.”

Glen Taylor, Elliott’s coach his senior year with the Wildcats, said this of the student-athlete, I am very happy for and proud of D’Angelo for achieving his goal of playing college basketball. He was a superb player and leader for us this past season. He never missed a workout or a practice, all the while managing his academic load, holding down a job, and helping manage his family. Guilford Tech is getting an outstanding player and an equally outstanding young man.”

Steve Henry, director of athletics at Carolina Day offered the following during his address to Elliot at the signing ceremony, “Guilford Tech is not only getting an outstanding young man and basketball player, but also a young man who will make their institution and community stronger, just as he has for Carolina Day.”

Located in Greensboro, N.C., The Titans of GTCC finished their 2018-19 season with a record of 24 wins, 6 losses, and made it to the District XIV Region 10 Finals.
