Cross-Country Teams Impress at NCISAA Preview Meet
While many of us hunkered down and prepared for the arrival of Hurricane Florence on Saturday, September 15, our boys and girls cross-country team braved the elements and participated in the NCISAA Preview Meet at Jackson Park in Hendersonville, NC.
It has been established that our girl's cross-country team is a force to be reckoned with. And our showing at Jackson Park affirmed our standing in the state as the team to beat this year as Olivia Sutter, class of 2020, led the Wildcats to victory with a meet-winning time of 20:15.18. On Olivia’s heels was Erin Hovendon, Katie Rudins, Ashlyn Browne, and Ella Dockendorf, with CDS taking 5 of the 8 top finishes. An impressive performance by these runners.
What was equally impressive was the performance of our ever-improving boy's team. The Cats not only claimed their 1st team win of the season but Harrison Oswald’s, class of 2020, effort topped the field, as he crossed the finish line with an impressive 16:59.55, taking first place among all runners. And to add a little fire to the debate at home, his brother, Carson Oswald, CDS ‘2020, finished very close behind, posting a 3rd place finish with a time of 18:45.33. Other team members securing their first win of the season included Chilton Curwen, Jeffrey Short, Marcelino Smith, Brodie Sprouse, Luc Clerici, Liam Lang, and Henry Broshar.
