Carolina Day School fifth-graders Christian Young, Wiley Lastinger, Levi Lastinger, Aiden Carroll, Aidan Schneider, and Charlie Douglas advance to the State Odyssey of the Mind Tournament. They will compete April 2 at Wingate University with the guidance of Lower School STEM Coordinator Ian Riddell. Riddell was named Odyssey of the Mind Coach of the Year for the Western region.
Last weekend, three teams from Carolina Day School competed in the regional tournament at Enka High School. The teams spent all day competing in different challenges that asked them to use their creative problem solving skills to gain points for their team. Students practiced since October for this event. Of the three teams, one team scored high enough to advance to the State Tournament.
Odyssey of the Mind teaches students to learn creative problem-solving methods while having fun in the process.
