Carolina Day girls varsity basketball team won their fifth consecutive NCISAA 2A State Championship title. The Wildcats won 58-55 over Northside Christian Academy. The Wildcats are the first seven-time state girls basketball champs in WNC history!
The Wildcats won 58-55 over Northside Christian Academy last Saturday in a nail-biter game. Tess Harris '16 led all scorers with 17 points, and Mikayla Ray '16 added 11 for the Wildcats. Other team members include Cheyenne Bunner '15, Emily Crawford '18, Halei Gillis '17, Ralene Kwiatkowski '17, Adelaide Lammers '19, Annabelle Schultz '20, Abigail Ward '15, Elizabeth Wood '19, Casey Yarborough '17, Hanna Draddy '15.
"I could not be more grateful to have had opportunity to play for my school these past four years and to be part of something special,” said senior Abigail Ward. “The mentoring, guidance, and coaching I have received has helped mold me into the person I am today and has given me the strength and resilience to face my future."
Carolina Day has been coached since 2010 by Joe Carrington and began its five-year streak of conference championships in 2011. The Wildcats have also won state championships in 1995, and 1996.
