Fourth-graders are studying microbiology and conducting an experiment on the effectiveness of various cleaners on germ growth. Students swabbed different locations around campus into petri dishes and then inserted discs with different cleaners into them. They observed and recorded germ growth over the course of a week. The cleaners are the ones used in the cafeteria, Lysol wipes, and an alcohol/water mixture. Students are now in the process of forming their conclusion, and graphing their results. They will then present their data to the maintenance staff, cleaning staff, third-graders, and administrators in February.
