Get to know Maria Cochrane:
What is your favorite quote about education, mentorship, children, and/or learning? “To read without reflecting is like eating without digesting.” -Edmund Burke
How would you describe yourself and/or your approach to your job in 10 words or less? “Anyone can learn French and I’m here to journey with you.”
Which classroom projects/events are you known for? “If I can be remembered for helping my students to speak French FEARLESSLY, I will be satisfied.”

Is there anything else we should know about you and your work? “I am passionate about learning French on a daily basis. Sharing that excitement with my students and their parents is both a joy and a natural byproduct. I love to learn and find that through reading, writing, and discussing ideas I grow.”

How is CDS different from what you experienced as a child in school? My father was career military, so I bounced around from school to school with concomitant mediocre and sometimes good experiences. My best year was in a local French school in Belgium when I was 14 years old. But what I missed out on was being at one school long enough to accumulate solid friendships. CDS offers a nurturing place where students can grow those friendships through the classroom, recess, enrichment activities, sports, and theater.”
