The year is 1929. Asheville’s native son, Thomas Wolfe, just published his first book, which launches him into international fame. Al Capone and Bugs Moran are household names, and the stock market is reaching heights never before seen. While most Americans don't know what will hit at the end of October, many know about secret places they can go to kick back, have fun, and enjoy a spirit or two...
It is the Prohibition Era, and with it comes the birth of the Speakeasy...
In 2017, The Venue downtown becomes "Door 1345," a CDS speakeasy! We'll host silent and live auctions at our Gala on April 8, and a silent auction at the family friendly Temperance Party on April 6. In the last few years, our gala events were organized using an individual ticket admission process. In addition to individual and VIP ticket sales, we will offer Patron Sponsorships which include name recognition and premier reserved seating for 10.
And back by popular demand - whether or not you can attend either event - everyone has the opportunity to participate in the Tuition Raffle!*
