Week of May 4 - 11

Middle School Track and Field

Special congratulations are in order for two of our middle school stars. Not only do Abby Smith ‘24 and Brodie Sprouse ‘23 go toe-to-toe with high school athletes on a weekly basis, they can also hold their own against some of the best middle schoolers. On Saturday May 4th, both athletes traveled to Charlotte for the NC Runners MS Elite Invitational.

Abby Smith '24 battled the heat and humidity, along with some very fast 7th and 8th graders, to place 4th in 12:13.  She has racked up strong performances all season and is sure to make some noise at the NCISAA Division II Track and Field Championships on Friday, May 17 - Sat May 18, 2019 @ Gaston Christian School.

Brodie Sprouse '23 also put CDS high up in the results with a breakout performance in the 1600m. With the sub-5:00 barrier already smashed last week at the Blue Ridge Classic, Brodie raced his way into a very elite category with his second place finish in 4:47. His time ranks him 10th in the nation for MS milers.
