Annual Gala

Carolina Day School's fundraising events are a beloved tradition central to the culture of philanthropy at our school. CDS has two spring philanthropic events, which are each held every other year.

Auction Gala

April 11 and 13, 2019 (Coming again in Spring 2021)

In 1976, at Asheville Country Day School, a great school tradition began: Auction Gala. In the following 42 years since its inception, Carolina Day School has hosted a biennial fundraising weekend to benefit the school, its students, and its faculty. Our auctions are famous for two reasons—they raise significant funds and allow the school community to come together and enjoy each other’s company at beautifully themed events. This year’s Gala carried on that tradition and included new enhancements that made this auction especially memorable.

Currently, the biennial Gala Auctions provide the largest amount of community-wide philanthropic support to teaching, learning, and environment at Carolina Day outside of the Annual Fund. The improvements and support our school is afforded every other year would simply not be possible without the Gala and the community’s participation.  This year's Gala had a talented team of volunteers, led by auction chair Preston Davitt, that spanned all divisions across campus.  The auction included two special events: On Thursday, April 11, the family night Wonderland Party engaged all ages in the Alumni Gym with its whimsical theme-filled activities, silent auction and "A Taste of Carolina Day" dinner. The April 13th Midnight Garden Gala dazzled the senses at the Amherst on the Biltmore Estate with breathtaking decorations, a silent and live auction, VIP touch-up lounge with Turner & Co. and a seated dinner.

Options for contributing also included purchasing Tuition Raffle tickets, donating items to the silent auctions, or becoming a business sponsor through the CDS Community Partners program.

Share the Promise

Coming in Spring 2020

The singular purpose of this event is to support need-based tuition assistance at Carolina Day School. See the impact of our 2018 Share the Promise event.

As part of long-term planning, there may be a special campaign introduced such as the It All Begins Here campaign which built the Lower School.

Make a Gift

A gift of any size has a tremendous impact. Everyone chooses an amount that is meaningful for them, and each gift is powerful.

"I give because I'm always grateful for the friends, both old and new, that the boys have made. And the atmosphere at CDS of wanting to learn and experiment, without fear of being made fun of or fear of failure, is one of the greatest gifts that CDS gives our children."
