Congratulations to the following CDS students for being recognized in the WNC Regional Scholastic Art Awards, sponsored by The Asheville Art Museum with the assistance of its volunteer docents and with support from the Asheville Area Section of the American Institute of Architects. Students in grades 7–12 from all across our region submit work for this special juried competition.

In commemoration of the living legacy of Dr. King, CDS will host our annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration with activities in each of our divisions. In addition, CDS students, faculty and staff, and community members will take part in Asheville-area events organized by the MLK Association of Asheville & Buncombe County.

What a night! Nash Athletic Center was full of love on Saturday night as we celebrated and supported financial assistance at Carolina Day. Thank you to the 245 community members who signed up to be a part of the second Share the Promise event, and to everyone who supported through donations and prize drawing tickets.

Jennifer Middlemas has been named the new Key School Director of Admission. A familiar face to Carolina Day School, Jennifer has been teaching for CDS since 1999 and is now replacing Lynn Pennington after her retirement.

The Key Middle School students hiked to the tops of Little and Big Bald mountains and assisted six scientists, led by longtime researcher Mark Hopey, in checking the bird collection nets. Nearly fifty songbirds were collected and data was meticulously documented.
