Carolina Day Golf Team Advances to NCISAA State Championships; Ends Season With Highest Finish in More Than a Decade

The CDS Golf team advanced to the NCISAA 3A Golf Championships, which was played at the Bryan Park Championship Golf Course on May 13 and 14. When scores were posted on Tuesday, the results were a third-place finish in the state this year, missing a second-place finish by only two strokes. This is the highest finish the team has recorded in an over a decade.

The team has had a great year and entered the State Championship as the number two ranked 3A team in the state. They completed the regular season in strong form, with three Wildcat golfers—Parker Truesdale ’20, Davis Oldenburg ’22, and Zack Philip ’22—earning CAA All-Conference honors. Truesdale, an NCAA Division I recruit, entered the state tournament as the number two ranked individual in the 3A golf ranks and earned numerous medalist awards this season.

“What’s so exciting about this group is they are young,” said Jake Southern, CDS golf coach. “The five golfers competing in the State Championships are underclassmen. It goes without saying the entire team of eight players are terrific young men. I’m really proud of this group and the way they have represented Carolina Day this year.”

The youth of this team holds much promise, and, in the words of 9th grader Zack Philip, “we can’t wait for next season.”
