AUGUST 12, 2020 Dear Key Middle School families,
I'm writing to you to share important news about an impact to the timeline for Key Middle School students returning to campus. As excited as we are to be welcoming our Wildcats back this week for CDS Reunite days, the first official day of KMS classes will need to be delayed by one day due to longer-than-anticipated renovations in Stephens Hall. We apologize for this unexpected delay.
This means that:
As you know, we've been very busy this summer renovating Stephens Hall to bring our Key Middle School students to this exciting new space. However, the renovations were not completed until recently, and there was a delay in receiving our certificate of occupancy for the renovated space—a necessary step in being able to set up classrooms for students.
We realize this news is unexpected and may pose some scheduling challenges for our families. We want to assure you that we have made every effort to minimize the delay as much as possible, and have been working diligently with "all hands on deck" to get the building ready for students. Our priority is ensuring the safest, most welcoming learning space for our KMS students, and we know that these spaces will be wonderful learning environments for your children when they are completed.
We are happy to report that some of the spaces in Stephens Hall are ready for KMS students, so we do plan to have our Reunite sessions as originally planned. During these short Reunite sessions, we'll be engaged in both indoor and outdoor activities, making good use of the spaces that are ready for students. This will be an exciting time for students as they reconnect with their friends and teachers.
We are confident that all remaining spaces will be ready to welcome our Key Middle School scholars for their first official day of class on Wednesday, August 19.
Again, we apologize for this delay, and thank you for your patience and understanding. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing your children during Reunite days and again on the 19th in this newly renovated learning environment in Stephens Hall.
Sincerely, Diane
