AUGUST 6, 2020 Back-to-School Issue - Part II
Let's get ready to reunite! Dear Wildcat families,
I have read the CDS Health and Safety Plan and our family is committed to following the health and safety protocols.
All Wildcat students and families will be expected to follow these protocols to keep our school safe. Following the protocols at school and at home will be our best strategy in keeping students on campus for the longest possible time.
Watch this short CDS health and safety video to see the basics in action.
I have completed all necessary contact & health forms.
You likely have been receiving emails about updating your emergency contact information and health forms for 2020-21 in our online health system, MAGNUS. If you have not made these updates already, go to My CDS and select MAGNUS Health & Athletic Forms found under Resources—the system will walk you through the process. Questions regarding medical forms? Contact School Nurse Jackie Lalor at jlalor@carolinaday.org.
I know my child's cohort, advisors' names, and which day and time my child is to attend CDS Reunite.
CDS Reunite days (orientation) take place Aug 12-15. On Monday, we sent a personalized email to each Wildcat parent with information about which day and time your child should attend. This was sent to your CDS email—if you don't see it, check your spam box. If you need help, please reach out to Charley Thompson.
Did you sign up for CDS Bridge? See #10 in our checklist, below, for important Bridge information.
I know how and when to drop off and pick up my child.
Middle School students can arrive between 7:45 and 8:25 a.m. They will go directly to their cohort's assigned classroom. Teachers will be in the classrooms to supervise early arrivals until the school day begins at 8:30 a.m. (Advisory happens after lunch this year.) Middle School will dismiss at 3:40 p.m.
To keep Wildcats safe, only students and CDS employees will be allowed in the buildings. This means that parents or those dropping off or picking up students should remain in their vehicle. Temperature checks will take place before students enter the building.
Where to go:
I know I can sign up for an optional virtual student/parent/advisor conference on August 12.

I know what to provide for my child in terms of masks, standard code of dress, and supplies.
Masks Students in grades K–12 are required to wear masks at school. Pre-K students are encouraged to wear masks, but not required. Masks should cover the nose and mouth, and should not have a valve. There are no color requirements for masks, however, in keeping with our standard code of dress, please no inappropriate images, words or logos. Face shields and neck gaiters (which are often only one layer of fabric) are not acceptable substitutes for masks. Navy CDS-logoed masks are available through the school uniform site at Lands' End.
Standard Code of Dress
Supplies See the list of CDS Middle School Supplies.
I know what to send with my child for lunch and snacks.
Many students bring lunch from home. Lunchtime will look a little different—our cafeterias will be used for different purposes this year, and we'll be eating outdoors more often—therefore, microwaves will not be easily accessible for heat-ups. We ask that you send no-heat lunches or pack hot food in thermoses when possible. We also ask that you be "nut aware" and consider peanut/nut alternatives for individual student lunches and snacks out of consideration to our students with severe, life-threatening allergies.
I've signed up for bus transportation (if needed).
View this document for details on new safety protocols, stop locations and times, costs, and how to sign up.
I've signed up for after-school care (if needed).

If I signed up for CDS Bridge (the all-virtual program), I know what to do.
Middle School will be having a Reunite session for Bridge students on Thursday August 13 from 2:00-3:00pm. Jeff Kalil and Missy Sullivan will be reaching out to families and leading this session.
I know I can get help with CDS technology, if needed.
Having trouble signing in to My CDS? Need help with your parent email account? Now you can get assistance virtually! Use this link to set up a Tech Support session.
(This service replace our in-person "Tech Tuesdays.") We look forward to seeing you soon!
