March 16, 2020 Dear Carolina Day Community,
In the past several weeks during the course of daily life, members of our CDS community have been visiting with family and friends, going to worship services, attending class and enjoying school field trips, competing, and traveling in the Asheville area and beyond. Although over the last few days we all have changed our behavior dramatically, we know that it is only a matter of time before we learn that a member of our community tests positive for COVID-19.
While there is speculation about exposure to COVID-19 within our CDS family, there are no confirmed cases of the virus within our community at this time. We have been made aware that a couple of parents chose to self-quarantine, one of whom is awaiting test results. We also were advised late this weekend that an employee at a field trip location our pre-k and first-grade students visited last week is now showing symptoms and being tested.
We urge all of our families and staff to follow government and medical directives and guidelines, exercising every precaution. This is a fluid and rapidly changing situation, and while we all have heightened awareness, we also want to keep you as informed as possible. Should we hear that a CDS community member has tested positive for COVID-19, we will make you aware while maintaining confidentiality.
Sincerely, Peggy
Asheville's co-ed independent day school, where inclusive community, inspired teaching, and innovative program create a journey of excellence for each student.
