Carolina Day School announced today the appointment of Ben Farrell as its next head of school, effective July 1, 2026, following a rigorous nine-month national search. Farrell, who has served as interim head of school since August 2025, was unanimously selected by Carolina Day’s Board of Trustees after an extensive search conducted in partnership with Carney, Sandoe & Associates.

Carolina Day student Zoe Hewitt ’26 has been named a 2026 Cameron Impact Scholar, one of the nation’s most prestigious merit-based scholarships. Selected as one of just 15 students nationwide, Zoe is recognized for her leadership, academic excellence, and commitment to community service. She will attend UNC Wilmington and plans to pursue a degree in Elementary Education.

Carolina Day School students earned recognition in the Western North Carolina Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, part of the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious program for creative teens. This year, CDS students received Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention honors across both art and writing categories.
