Donnae Farrington Women in Sports Guest 2024

Wednesday, February 7 was the 38th annual National Women and Girls in Sports Day. To celebrate, Carolina Day School hosted a special luncheon for Middle and Upper School female athletes which took place in the Nash Athletic Center. Athletes from a wide variety of teams gathered to support one another in their disciplines, listen to each other's stories, and hear Upper School speakers Caroline Barton, Maia Kiis, and Ellie Dukowicz as well as special guest speaker Donnae Farrington.

As the winter athletic season draws to a close, the Carolina Day Wildcats have much to celebrate and reflect upon. With some standout performances, challenges overcome, and camaraderie built, the Wildcats showcased their determination and sportsmanship all season long. Let's take a closer look at their achievements through the eyes of our coaches.

Susannah Owen '24 Morehead-Cain Scholar

The morning Carolina Day School senior Susannah Owen would find out if she had been awarded a UNC Chapel Hill Morehead-Cain Scholarship, she woke up with a plan. She wouldn’t find out the news until 5 p.m. that evening and, no matter the results, she wanted to enjoy her day. She started with a run before getting her nails done in the color Tarheel Blue as a reminder that she had already been accepted to Chapel Hill, its Honors College, and its Accelerated Research program. No matter what happened, she told herself, she had a lot to celebrate. 

Erick Zenteno '25 posting with his speech and debate award

Erick Zenteno '25 received the National Forensic League Speaking and Service Award from the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA). Students earn this award when they reach the maximum number of service points in the NSDA Honor Society in a given school year. Of the more than 140,000 members of the NSDA, fewer than 300 students receive this recognition.

Investment Club at Furman University

On Thursday, November 9th, twenty Carolina Day School Investment Club members traveled to Furman University in Greenville, SC. During their visit, club members toured Furman University, met with the President and Vice President of Furman’s Student Investment Club, and heard from Furman’s Chief Investment Officer regarding the strategies Furman is utilizing to grow and strengthen its 800 million dollar endowment.

Announcing the Will Elmore ’92 Service Learning & Leadership Endowment

Carolina Day School is pleased to announce the establishment of the Will Elmore ’92 Service Learning & Leadership Endowment, a unique initiative created by the Elmore family to honor their beloved son and alumnus, Will Elmore, to support the development of both students and staff together through service learning and leadership experiences.
