We are thrilled to celebrate Carolina Day School's very own Jan Brabham, a dedicated sixth-grade teacher, and her incredible journey featured in Wofford Today. Jan recently returned to Lesotho, where she first taught as a Peace Corps volunteer in 1988. Accompanied by her son, CDS alumnus Keefe Kalil '24, their visit became a powerful moment of connection and service.

Monarch Migration 2024

CDS recently celebrated a heartwarming milestone as its Pre-K students and Monarch Seniors participated in the 30th annual Monarch Migration, a beloved tradition and the cornerstone project of the school’s Pre-K program. Originally planned for earlier in the fall, the anniversary event was postponed due to the recent hurricane. Despite the delay, excitement filled the air as the entire school community eagerly gathered to mark three decades of this meaningful experience.

This fall, Carolina Day School's athletic teams demonstrated resilience and spirit amid a season interrupted by Hurricane Helene, which forced the temporary closure of school and suspension of athletics. Guided by the CDS core belief to "embrace challenges and persevere," our Wildcats remained determined, achieving remarkable successes and inspiring our community with their dedication and tenacity. Let's take a closer look at their achievements.

CDS distribution site Helene Recovery

In the wake of the Hurricane Helene disaster that left many in the Greater Asheville area struggling, Carolina Day School mobilized swiftly to support the community's recovery. Led by a group of dedicated CDS staff and in partnership with the Town of Biltmore Forest, the City of Asheville, and Buncombe County, the school launched a two-week initiative to host an essential item distribution site, helping approximately 2,000 affected families with the help of over 300 volunteers.

Michelle Fidelia ’10 is a lot of things. She’s a mother, a Peace Corps alum, a mentor, a nonprofit owner, and a disaster relief professional. She’s a woman with energy and drive, and her inspiration comes from a desire to help people. Though her list of personal and professional identifiers is long, she has a new one to add: pageant queen.

The signing ceremony took place Tuesday, May 28, 2024, with DeAngelo's friends, family, coaches, and teammates in attendance to celebrate.

CDS Announces Upper School Renovation and Campus Improvement Project

Thanks to the generous support of two families, CDS will begin a major capital construction project in June 2024. This project is part of a three-phase plan to enhance academic facilities at CDS, with this first phase to include a complete redesign of the Upper School's exterior, front entrance, and lobby, as well as improvements to campus entrance roads, traffic flow, and parking.
