The Carolina Day School One-Act Class presents the world premiere of Scheherazade, Again, written by CDS alumna Sophia Pereda-Echeverry (class of 2021). An illumination of grief, of what is said and what goes unsaid, Scheherazade, Again unfolds at the nexus of multiple realities. It explores the power and influence of the stories we tell to each other and to ourselves. In the words of the playwright, “Scheherazade used stories to keep herself alive. It is not dissimilar to what you and I do every day, telling ourselves and each other stories (sometimes prayers) that allow us to continue to live. The stories we tell do matter, and their truth or non-truth is in many ways insignificant in the face of their consequences. We have not yet given up, because we feel (we can feel) that a universe where kindness, compassion, and empathy are commonplace is just within reach.”
Scheherazade, Again performers are Evan Brooks, Max Farmer, Hannah Fuhrman, Abrey Hernandez, Dev Hernandez, Asher McKinney-Ring, Riley Oswald, Addie Suess, Ellsworth Sullivan, and Elise Waters. Elliot Rosse is Stage Manager and Light Board Operator. Campbell Haas is Assistant Stage Manager and Sound Operator. Costume Design by Ellsworth Sullivan. Props by Evan Brooks.
