Driscoll Named WNC Coach of Year

Carolina Day School’s Mark Driscoll has been named the All-WNC Cross Country Girls Coach of the Year by the Asheville Citizen Times. The Citizen Times All-WNC recognitions are compiled from nominations by area coaches from all divisions. Since 2008, Driscoll has served as the head coach for cross-country and track and field. He’s also a member of the faculty at Carolina Day, teaching grade 6 math and science, as well as middle school physical education and technology education in Key School.

The Citizen Times noted, “Driscoll led Carolina Day to its sixth straight NCISAA cross country state title while having two runners named to the All-WNC team and another as the runner of the year. Carolina Day also won the Buncombe County Championships and the CAA title.”

Along with Driscoll, three other CDS faculty members play a vital role in the success of the Carolina Day cross country program. Middle School Physical Education teacher Brian Rannie has coached the varsity cross country teams since 2013 while Stephens Hall faculty members Annie Zeberkewicz and Tom Bendon are in their second year of leading the Middle School cross country teams.
