CDS unveils 2021 One-Act production, earns accolades in the 2021 NCTC High School Play Festival

The Theatre Department at Carolina Day School is celebrating their newest theatre production presented by the 2021 One-Act class, an original physical theatre piece called “Now What Question Mark.”

“Using the techniques of Viewpoints improvisation, the group has been exploring the intersection of happiness, insecurity, hope, and fear,” said David Dvorscak, who leads the Theatre Department at CDS. “The piece utilizes text from classic plays by Anton Chekhov and music from Laurie Anderson, Buena Vista Social Club, Ruben Gonzalez, and Arooj Aftab.”  

The class performed the piece for the first time at the North Carolina Theatre Conference One-Act Festival in Boone, NC, on Saturday, October 30, earning some incredible accolades at the regional festival including:

  • Outstanding Ensemble (best of the entire festival)

  • Excellence in Stage Movement

  • Excellence in Devised Theatre   

The One-Act class is performing the piece for a limited audience of Upper School parents, students, and staff on November 4, 2021, at 5:05 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. in the Upper School auditorium. Reservations are required.
