George Batten teaches math and science in the Upper School and joined Carolina Day in 2022.

George has taught math and science at independent schools since 2001. Prior to teaching, George worked in the paper industry as a physicist and engineer, and in the chemical industry as a researcher, technical support person, and research director. 

In addition to his Ph.D. dissertation, George has 23 scientific publications in peer-reviewed scholarly journals, technical books, and encyclopedias, 6 non-refereed technical publications, 3 technical books, and 17 presentations at conferences, symposia, and short courses.

He is married to Kathy Batten. Their blended family consists of 6 children and 4 grandchildren.
