Tauni Butterfield is the Athletic Director for Carolina Day School. She joined CDS in 2021 bringing 35 years of experience in middle and high school athletics as a teacher, coach, and athletic director.

Tauni comes to Carolina Day from Greens Farms Academy (GFA) in Connecticut where she served as Director of Athletics and Physical Education, overseeing all of the local daily operations and the administration of the athletic department. This included the coordination and direction of an interscholastic athletic program of more than 30 teams and 8 recreational activities and oversight and administration of the PK-4 Physical Education program. Tauni has also been heavily involved in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts at GFA. Prior to her role at GFA, she served as Director of Athletics and Physical Education at Christian Heritage School in Connecticut. Her coaching experience includes volleyball, basketball, soccer, and tennis, and she was the recipient of the Western New England Soccer Association Coach of the Year in 2012.

Tauni has served on several athletic league committees, including the Fairchester Executive Committee, and in leadership positions with the Western New England Soccer Association, New England All State Soccer Selection Committee, and the Fairchester Athletic Association.

She has a Master of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Southern Connecticut State University and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Health and Recreation from King's College (NY).
