Nadine Sumner is a Learning Specialist for Grades 3-5 in the Lower School. She is a graduate of University of Georgia with an Elementary Education certification and a Master's degree in Elementary Education in constructivist math. She has fifteen years of experience as a classroom teacher in schools varying from the top embassy schools in Asia and South America to public schools in and around Atlanta, Georgia. She is trained in project based learning from the Buck Institute, Reader's and Writer's Workshop, certified to teach ESL, and certified to teach mindfulness from Mindful Schools. Nadine's next career goals include training in the Orton-Gillingham method, and she is committed to empowering students to nurture a strong sense of self, community and agency in their lives. Nadine believes in balancing work and self care through her yoga practice, growth during long-term travel, and enjoying the outdoors. She loves hiking and travel so much, she has hiked on all seven continents.
