Parker Heck is the US/MS Music Director and has been with Carolina Day School since 2020. He has been teaching music in Asheville since 2012 as both a private instructor and a classroom teacher. He and his wife Kendal have two girls, Abby and Tilly, and one horse-sized dog named Moose. He graduated from UNC Asheville, where he was a recipient of the Helen Edelstein Memorial Piano Scholarship. Parker has also taught at French Broad River Academy for Girls and Elevate Life and Art where he was teacher of the year in the 2018-2019 school year.

How would you describe your classroom?

"My classroom is a place where students play music they love and want to learn, discover new music, and are pushed to the edge of their abilities. Includes a healthy dose of bad jokes."

How would you describe yourself and/or your approach to your job in 10 words or less?

"Give students confidence, create community through music, encourage goodness."

What personal passion brings balance to your life?

"Reading sci-fi, fantasy, and classic novels and writing music."
