Amanda Matos graduated with her Masters of Athletic Training from Florida International University, where she worked with an array of athletes and sports, including D1 football and volleyball. Prior to that she earned her Bachelors in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Florida, Tampa. Amanda has worked as a traveling athletic trainer at Miami Children’s Hospital, where she was also apart of the Sports Medicine Research team. Prior to coming to CDS she worked as an Athletic Trainer for Mission Sports Medicine, where she covered multiple events throughout Buncombe county and assisted with the athletes at UNCA. Amanda’s passion for athletic training comes from being an athlete herself. She had to overcome a knee injury during her senior year as volleyball player at Miami Dade College, Miami. “If it wasn’t for my athletic trainer, I would have not bounced back the way I did with the confidence to not only return to my game, but to become the top defensive player of the year in my conference during that season” says Amanda.
