Carolina Day's fifth grade First Lego League team competed at the First Lego League (FLL) Qualifying Tournament at Blue Ridge Community College Saturday, November 14. The team scored a best overall team record of 217 points.

CDS Upper School Theatre students presented "The Secret in the Wings" at the North Carolina Theatre Conference (NCTC) this weekend at Gardner-Webb University. The judges recognized their great work with the "Excellence in Ensemble Acting" award, Directors Award, and a special award for "Excellence in Live Music Performance" for Serena Dotson-Smith '16, Xena Jaffe '18, and Zoe Eshan '18.

The Key Middle School students hiked to the tops of Little and Big Bald mountains and assisted six scientists, led by longtime researcher Mark Hopey, in checking the bird collection nets. Nearly fifty songbirds were collected and data was meticulously documented.

When CDS parent Robert Beatty wrote "Serafina and the Black Cloak," he enlisted his wife Jennifer and his daughters, CDS students Camille (9th) and Genevieve (Key 7th), to help develop the story, refine the characters, and improve the details of the writing. They also drew upon the assistance of CDS students, parents, and teachers to provide feedback, which was then incorporated into the manuscript.
