On the campus of Carolina Day School, in front of a large group of family, friends, teachers and classmates, Austin Prichard signed to play college baseball for the Monarchs of Methodist University.

Prichard chose Methodist over a number of other schools, including, but not limited to, Glenville State College and Slippery Rock University. Prichard, a natural infielder, played numerous positions for the Wildcats - excelling at every position he was asked to play for the Wildcats.

According to Prichard, Methodist was the right place for a variety of reasons:

“I was impressed with the coaching staff, the players, and the strength of their program. Additionally, I’m interested in pursuing engineering and their program really appeals to me. I’m confident I made the right decision and I’m look forward to contributing to Methodist.”

Anthony Penland, Carolina Day’s varsity baseball coach, says this of Austin:

“Today marks another exciting day for the Carolina Day School Baseball Program and for an outstanding young man, Austin Pritchard. I am very excited for Austin and his family. His hard work and dedication to the game of baseball is allowing him to continue his play at the next level. There is no doubt that the Methodist University Monarchs will reap some very good benefits with Austin being a part of their baseball team and I look forward to keeping tabs on Austin as he plays college baseball.”

In addition to his efforts in a Carolina Day School uniform, Prichard was also recognized at the state and national levels. Some of those accolades are as follows: Named to the Rawlings PerfectGame Pre-Season High School All-American Team; ranked as one of the top unsigned shortstops (class of 2017) in the state of North Carolina; ranked as one of the top unsigned players - all positions (class of 2017) in the state of North Carolina.

Methodist University, located in Fayetteville, NC., competes in the USA South Conference and is a NCAA Division III institution.
