Asheville, NC….. Carolina Day School senior Michael Connelly has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Carson-Newman University.
Connelly, a CAA All-Conference baseball team member, received multiple collegiate offers, but chose Carson-Newman after spending time on campus, with Carson-Newman players and the coaching staff. According to Connelly, “The school is great and the coaching staff is beyond amazing. The school is small and connected and reminds me a lot of Carolina Day. Overall, I just felt it was the best fit for me. Go Eagles!”
CDS Baseball Coach Anthony Penland says this of Connelly, “I have been fortunate to watch Michael compete on the baseball diamond for the past three years and have no doubt the Carson-Newman Eagles are getting not only a very good baseball player but also an outstanding young man.”
Connelly, an infielder at Carolina Day, expects to play outfield for the Eagles. In addition to his play with the Wildcats of Carolina Day, Connelly plays for the Georgia Giants, a travel team based in Atlanta, GA.
