Second grade art students have been studying weaving around the world from Navajo Native American weaving, plaid kilts of Scotland, Kente cloth of West Africa, to the silks of China. They’re using recycled CDs and yarn to create radial design weavings. The students practiced techniques of weaving over, under, over, under, as well as tying knots and creating their own unique color patterns. These CD's created by each second-grader will later be attached together to make a hanging quilt.
