Carolina Day School senior, Carson Slosman, was awarded in March a Junior Travel Award trip to Peru through the National Spanish Examinations (NSE). Carson participated in the trip to Peru from July 20–28, 2017, and shares her experiences.

On Friday, August 25, nationally acclaimed hiker, Jennifer Pharr Davis, gave an inspirational talk to CDS students in middle and lower school about her legendary record-breaking hike on the Appalachian Trail. Her visit to CDS kicked off a new school-wide initiative of outdoor exploration.

Carolina Day School invites WNC parents and educators to a free community forum called "Parenting with Identity in Mind" on October 5. The forum features nationally known professional diversity trainer and speaker Rosetta Lee and focuses on how we can instill positive self-identity in our children and coach them to be positive influences on others' identities.

Upper School students are raising trout from eggs to fingerlings and then release them into approved cold-water streams and lakes.
