Wildcats FAQs

Please contact Director of Athletics Steve Henry, 828-274-0757 if you'd like to discuss our athletics program personally.

Jackson Coker '17 discusses his passion for soccer and the profound effect that Carolina Day School has had on his experience both on the field and in the classroom.

When does the athletic experience begin for CDS students?

Students in grades PK-5 are encouraged to participate in our Little Cat Athletic Program. Additionally, in partnership with the YMCA and other local youth sports organizations, our Lower School students may participate on Carolina Day School teams within these respective organizations. Students are able to participate in interscholastic athletics beginning in sixth grade.

How are teams chosen at CDS?

Students are encouraged to participate in our athletic program regardless of skill level. Students interested in participating in the CDS athletic program go through an evaluation process to determine their skill level and appropriate team placement. More details regarding the evaluation process are made available prior to the beginning of each athletic season.

How is playing time determined?

At all levels, playing time is earned and is decided upon by the coaching staff.

Does CDS offer athletic scholarships?

We do not offer any type of athletic scholarships. All interested students are encouraged to apply for need based financial aid via our admissions office.

Do any of our student-athletes compete at the collegiate level?

Absolutely! Please refer to our CDS College Athletes.

Does CDS belong to a state athletic organization?

Does CDS belong to a local athletic conference?

Yes. CDS is a member of the Carolinas Athletic Association (CAA). Members of the CAA include: Asheville Christian Academy, Asheville School, Christ School, Rabun Gap Nacoochee School, and Shannon Forest Christian School.
