Cindy Scruggs handles Middle School study support and has been working at Carolina Day School since 1998. Cindy's daughter was a student at CDS for four years and her son for eight years. Before joining the Carolina Day team, she taught students with learning differences in public school. Cindy received the Betty Lou Davis Award.

In what ways can you teach/engage children at CDS that you couldn't at other schools? The small group setting allows me to know my students well and assess and address their academic needs individually.”
 
What do you like most about your job at CDS? The creative, determined students inspire me and the positive, professional environment is invigorating. I appreciate the partnership with parents.”
 
How would you describe your classroom? “A positive, motivating place to learn.”

Which classroom projects/events are you known for? The Key 8th Grade theme is Coming-of-Age which is reflected in our classroom novels and activities; the year culminates in special outdoor Rite of Passage experience.”
 
What personal passion brings balance to your life? Spending time with my family, flower gardening, yoga, hiking, and reading for pleasure bring balance to my life.”
