Much of Carolina Day School’s strength can be credited to the leadership of our board. Our volunteer trustees, which includes parents of current students, parents of alumni, alumni, and community leaders from diverse industry segments, have the credentials, expertise, and qualities needed to chart the direction of the school and ensure its continued success.

Tom Olverson

Robin Oswald '88

Member of the Finance committee, member of the Strategic planning committee, member of the Committee on Trustees  Graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1992 with a BA degree in American history and a BS in broadcast journalism. She was formerly a producer with MTV in New York, and programming and production coordinator for the Biltmore Company’s marketing team. She currently works as a producer for Bonesteel Films.  Robin and her husband Ozzie have twin sons Carson and Harrison ’20 and a daughter Riley ‘23.   She enjoys running, theater, crossfit, and travel.

Swati Patel '92

Member of the Investment committee, Committee on Trustees, and Building and Grounds committee • Swati Patel was raised in Asheville, North Carolina and has lived in the area since 1982. A 1992 graduate of Carolina Day School, Swati earned her B.A. degree from Davidson College, and her M.P.H. from Emory University. After completing her Master’s, Swati worked for two years for Lucent Technologies in Chicago.  She and her husband, Himanshu Karvir, decided to move back to Asheville in 2003 and join the family business of hospitality. At Carolina Day, Swati serves as Lower School VP to Parent Council. She and her husband, Himanshu are parents to their son, Aakash ’26 and daughter, Janaki ’28.

Jennifer Ramming

Involved with OpenDoors since it’s inception in 2006. Her passion is providing opportunities for all children so that they may meet their potential and become inspired learners. Jen is currently OpenDoors’ executive director and strengthens their programs using her 12 years of experience as a parent and student advocate in 13 area schools, with priority given to Asheville City Schools, in order to help coordinate diverse educational offerings. Jen also works diligently as the lead fund-developer, growing OpenDoors from its very beginnings to an annual budget of just over $500,000 in raised funds and in-kind support. She draws from her
background as a for-profit marketing executive and non-profit development
director, providing connections to many other local agencies, businesses, and
community members. • Bachelor degrees in sociology and mass
communications from the University of Vermont, pursuing her MBA. • Her husband, Scott, in an Emergency Room physician, and they have
three children: James (currently studying at the United States Naval
Academy), Ollie (at Asheville High School), and Nick (grade 6 at Key

Heather Cassidy

Education from Whitby School, Greenwich Academy, the Centre International de Valbonne in France and Princeton University, where she graduated with a BA in history. • In addition to being involved in numerous charities in CT and NY, Heather previously served on the Board of Directors of St. Joseph’s School, an inner city parochial school in Harlem, New York where she worked after graduating. More recently she and her husband, Jim, spent two years living aboard their traditional wooden sailboat with their two young daughters, cruising from Maine to the Caribbean and back to offer their kids a different life experience and a broad worldview. • They moved to Asheville in 2014 and are involved in small-scale private equity, small business consulting, and real estate projects. Their daughters are Scarlet ’21 and River ’26.

Suzanne Rose

BA in Communication from Trinity University in San Antonio • Previously worked in the oil and gas industry. • She and her husband, Mike, own Rosemary Beach Holdings with resort properties in Rosemary Beach, Florida. They are the parents of Michael ’21, Daniel and three grown children.

Patti D'Angelo

BA and MBA from the University of Florida. • More than twenty years in the travel industry, most recently as Senior VP Rental Cars for Priceline.com. • Patti and her husband Tom have two children, Grace ’24 and Nicholas ’26.
