Communications

We utilize email almost exclusively to communicate school information. Our email system is through Google and we establish parent Gmail accounts for each parent, Until your parent Gmail account has been established, we'll communicate with you using the contact information we have on file for you.

During the school year, families receive emails every two weeks from their division with information specific to that division (Lower School, Middle School, Key School and Upper School). Parents and students may also receive emails from teachers, and general emails from CDS with information relevant to all students.

Student Handbook

The Student Handbook is where you can find a wealth of answers to questions a new family might have.

Transportation

Carolina Day offers bus service through Emma Bus Lines for our students. There are two bus routes: a North Asheville route and a South Asheville route.

  • North Asheville Bus - This route runs from Charlotte Street north of 240, through the Grove Park Country Club area, to just North of Beaver Lake. There are four designated spots for morning pick-up and four for afternoon drop-off.

  • South Asheville / Hendersonville Bus - This route will run through Hendersonville, the Airport Road area, and the Biltmore Park area. There will be three designated spots for morning pick-up and three for afternoon drop-off.

Seats are limited, so if you're interested in using the bus service, please contact Kelli Singogo at ksingogo@carolinaday.org for specific information and annual costs. Contracts are accepted in the order in which they are received until all seats are filled.

Before & After-School Care
  • Before-School Care: 7:15 am – 8:15 am in the Lower School Cafeteria for all students.
  • After-School at Carolina Day - Exciting Adventures Beyond the School Day
    • After-School Care is available to families until 6:00 pm. The program offers supervised care plus a nutritious snack every school day. We ask that all students be productive and positive during this time. This is a great time to complete homework, play games, and build friendships and community.
    • After-School Adventures is an opportunity for Lower and Key Lower School students to engage in unique experiences after school. Students are encouraged to get involved in classes and discover talents and opportunities that broaden their horizons and embrace a sense of community. We offer a variety of classes by the semester. You may register your child for a specific class that meets weekly over the course of a semester.  Enrollment in any class also includes the ability to stay in After-School until 6 pm on the day of the class.
    • Experienced Staff & Instructors: The staff includes CDS faculty members and highly experienced instructors who supervise with professionalism and care, lead group activities, teach amazing classes, and offer private music lessons.
    • Availability: Before and After-School is available Monday through Friday throughout the school year and follows the CDS calendar.  In times of inclement weather and special circumstances, Before and After-School programs follow all school protocols, emergency procedures, and early dismissals.
  • Before & After-School Fees (for the 2018-2019 school year)
    • Before-School Care: Currently, there is no charge for before-school care.
    • After-School Care:Fees cover all or part of a day anytime between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm.  There are three options to choose in regards to your billing options for After-School: first semester, second semester, or the full year.  Parents also have the option for their children to attend occasionally as needed (Drop-in).
      • Drop-In, billed monthly, $14 per day
      • Semester, billed twice a year, $800 per semester
      • Annual, billed once a year, $1,500 per year

 Athletics

    • Athletic Philosophy and Athletic Offerings

    • Athletics Requirements: Students in Grades 6-12 who want to participate in athletics need to have a pre-participation sports exam. If your child is having a physical for school, you can ask the physician to also fill out the pre-participation sports exam form. Please note, however, the sports exam is not a substitute for a physical. Before school starts, we will share via email information about when and how to submit these forms.

Parent Association

Not only are you now a part of this exceptional learning institution, but you are now a member of the CDS Parent Association. The PA is a great way to get involved within the community and a valuable transitional resource. You can learn more about the PA and find upcoming meetings at carolinaday.org/parentassociation.
